The exhibition consists of an extraordinary gallery of images related to the monumental "The Basilica of San Marco in Venice" (18 files edition published between 1881 and 1893) that aims to create a dialogue between Ongania’s artistic work, the Museum and the Basilica.
The exhibition spreads in the following sections:
• the  geometric relief of Basilica’s architecture;
• the mosaics: materials, techniques and documentation of interventions in the Baptistery;
• the chariot of St. Mark;
• the  marbles;
• the  Ongania’s room;
• the mosaic floor;
• the views and findings watercolor of the interior;
• the  Ongania’sedition: special bindings;
• the liturgical vestments;
• the Treasury of St. Mark.
The exhibition, organized by the Committee created to celebrate the centenary of the death of FerdinandOngania, is sponsored by St. Mark Procuratoria, who bought in 1892 the Ongania documentation, and by the Veneto Region.
The exhibition will be open to the public until November 27, 2011.
