The 2011 rowing season, the appointment schedule

From April to September the program offer more than 120 regattas in the lagoon, traditional boats, famous and novice competitors challenge each other until the last row stroke to gain the first place!

Many of those initiative are of spontaneous nature, 11 of those are organized by the Venice City Hall
in cooperation with the Rower Associations Coordinated by the rowing club association, the purpose is to promote a sport activity that born with the territory and still today is part of it, when the engine was far to come transport were made by rowing boats, also challenge amongst men were mostly held on board of a boat to demonstrate their strength and were made often during popular feasts or celebrations, the challenge was an occasion to exalt the popular and institutional glory. And it still is.

Nex regatta are:
REGATA DI MALAMOCCO: July 10th woman on board of “Mascarete” with two rows and “Caorline” with 6 rows.
REGATA DEL REDENTORE: July 17th young rower on “Pupparini” with 2 rows men on “Pupparini” with 2 rows and gondolas with 2 rows.
REGATA DI PELLESTRINA:  Aug. 7th young on “Pupparini” with 2 rows women on “Mascarete” with two rows Men on “Mascarete” with 2 rows.
REGATA STORICA: Sept. 4th Young on “ Pupparini” with 2 roes women on “ Mascarete” with 2 rows men on “ caorline “ 6 rows and on “ gondolini with 2 rows.
REGATA DI BURANO: Sept. 18th young on “ Pupparini” with 2 rows, women on “Mascarete” men on “Gondola” with 2 rows.

If you are amateur or not it is always a big emotion to see a regatta live here in Venice, specially because the whole city is involved, from the pier, the windows the boats, supporters celebrate their favourite champs from their “ sestiere” or isle.
A race to the maximum level made by racers that row all year long to take home the winner flag!
