From February 9th to February 25th, the event that charms thousands of people every year takes place in Venice: the Carnival.
Calli and campielli become, as always, a great stage: fashion shows and competitions, concerts, theatrical performances and music, involve the whole city.
On Sunday 9th of February at 11 a.m the water procession will parade from Punta della Dogana, along the entire Grand Canal until it reaches the popular Rio di Cannaregio.
The fulcrum of the celebrations, as always, is Piazza San Marco. The traditional "Festa delle Marie" will start on February 15th from San Piero di Castello around 2.30pm, will take via Garibaldi and Riva degli Schiavoni in a spectacular procession, and will arrive on the stage of Piazza San Marco around 4.00pm, where the official presentation will take place at audience of the Carnival.
February 16th The exciting flight of the Angel, from 12 p.m. to 13 p.m, will officially open the Carnival celebrations in Piazza San Marco.
During the period, the most beautiful Mask Competitions will be held, during which the participants will parade on a catwalk in Piazza San Marco with costumes, masks and wigs, voted by the public!
On February 23rd the very famous "Svolo dell'asino" and "Svolo dell 'aquila" will be held and to end on February 25 the "Svolo del Leon" will close the Carnival period.
