VENETIA 1600. BIRTH AND REBIRTHS

Add to bookmark Add to favourities

According to a millenary tradition, March 25, 421 is commonly recognized as the foundation day of the city of Venice.

In 2021 there will be 1600 years ab urbe condita, and the City of Venice celebrates the anniversary by preparing a program of events and events organized and promoted by local bodies and institutions: exhibitions, museum and citizen tours, conferences and seminars.

The history of Venice is punctuated by multiple births and rebirths, such as the events of the Serenissima which have been marked by countless moments of crisis and ruptures. The past of Venice therefore offers a valuable lesson for interpreting the present and for reflecting on a possible, optimistic future of the city. This exhibition offers the opportunity to observe the history of the Serenissima to identify the concept of birth and rebirth.

The points on which the exhibition focuses most are the church of San Giacomo di Rialto, the basilica of San Marco, the Rialto Bridge, the Doge's Palace, the Fondaco dei Tedeschi, the Teatro della Fenice.

The founders of this exhibition believe that the celebrations for the foundation of Venice must begin with the recognition of the artistic treasures of the Civic Museums by a wider audience.
