Hiroshige, the poet of nature
In the late nineteenth century the art of Hiroshige fascinated and conquered Europe the Impressionist painters and especially Van Gogh, who composed oil two of woodcuts showed at the exhibition, The briers of ameido and the famous Sudden Shower Over Shin-Ohashi Bridge and Atake.
The exhibition focuses on the mature period of the author, from the 40s of the nineteenth century until 1857, with famous works Sudden Shower Over Shin-Ohashi Bridge and Atake or Gojūsan tsugi meisho zue of 1855, also known as vertical Tōkaidō, works of quality and outstanding value as the Hundred Views of famous places of Edo, a masterpiece of maturity of the artist, and some rarities as works where Hirosgige explores themes such the female figures or traditional legends.
