The Name of the President of the 68th Venice Film Festival
The american director, producer and scriptwriter Darren Aronofsky (author of the opening film of the 67th Film Festival “Black Swan” and Leone d’Oro in 2008 for “The Wrestler”) will be the president of the International Jury of the 68th International Festival of Cinematographic Art, welcoming the proposition of the Director, Marco Mueller.
Darren Aronofsky hit an extraordinary success of international critique and public with Black Swan in which he has known how to combine the sensibility of the boldest independent cinema, his formation, with the one of the general public, the pulp dimensions of the melodrama and the horror with the “highness” of the most original expressive research.
Dedicating to the film the cover of the february 2011 of the magazine “Cahiers du Cinema”, Aronofsky is defined as “the leader of the new generation”. Black Swan set a new receipts record for the Fox Searclight Pictures, he obtained 5 nominations for the main categories of the Oscar 2010, 4 nominations at the Golden Globes and the Independent Spirit Award as best film of the year and best direction.
Natalie Portman, who already moved the Venetian public and who has been exalted by the Italian and international critique, received for her interpretation the Oscar of the best actress, the Golden Globe, the BAFTA, the Independent Spirit Award, the Screen Actors Guild Award and the main awards of the main associations of critiques. With his previous work The Wrestler in 2008, Aronofsky won the Leone d’Oro at the 65th Venice Film Festival .
