"The Titian ever seen. La Fuga in Egitto and the great Venetian painting "
Until the 02nd of December 2012, at the Academy Galleries, everyone will have the opportunity to discover a new side of the painter Titian: the nature, in the biggest example of his masterpiece " La Fuga in Egitto” .
Painting commissioned by Loredan, for his new palace on the Grand Canal, Ca 'Vendramin Calergi (known now as the Casino of Venice), after 12 years of restoration made by a team of the Hermitage, the impressive work (204 × 324 cm) returns to its original and revolutionary splendour.
At the end of the restoration, " La Fuga in Egitto”, one of the first works of the painter, was exhibited in London before being transferred in Venice, in the Galleries of the Academy.
In addition to Titian's masterpiece, you can also admire the masterworks of 20 other equally important painters. Works of great Venetian masters such as Giorgione da Castelfranco, Bellini, Lotto, which between the fifteenth and the sixteenth century, they began to renew the painting technique, paying more attention to "nature" and trying to bring more attention to the context of the story than the main subjects. But on the other hand, thanks to the play of lights and shadows, verything together becomes the main subject.
The show, directed and edited by Giuseppe Pavanello and Irina Artemieva was made possible thanks to an international agreement between the State Hermitage Museum, the Superintendence for the Historical Patrimony, Artistic and Ethno-anthropological and the Museums of Venice and the municipalities of the lagoon, the National Gallery of London and the Hermitage Foundation Italy.
