san pietro miniA Wonderful proposition to discover again the Basilica Co-cathedral of San Pietro di Castello in Venice.

The present building dates from the 16th century, but a church has stood on the site since at least the 7th century. From 1451 to 1807, it was the city's cathedral church, serving as both the spiritual and administrative centre of religious Venice.

During its history the church has undergone a number of alterations and additions by some of Venice's most prominent architects. Andrea Palladio received his first commission in the city of Venice from the Patriarch Vincenzo Diedo to re-build the facade and interior of St Pietro, but Diedo's death delayed the project.

On Wednesday October 20th at 07:00 pm at the Basilica of San Pietro di Castello, Laura De Rossi will present a very interesting discussion called: " A pictorial project. The giustinian cycle in the Cathedral of San Pietro di Castello."

The conference will be accompagned by some melodies played by Claudio Micconi on the Nacchini organ.

Free Entrance at the conference, on reservation at +39 0412750462 from the previous monday or at info@chorusvenezia.org.
