Martial Raysse - Palazzo Grassi
Until 30.11.15 Palazzo Grassi will host an exhibition on Martial Raysse, curated by Caroline Bourgeois with the extraordinary collaboration of the artist.
Martial Raysse is a well-rounded artist, whose work ranges from painting to sculpture, from art to poetry until the realization of films through the latter half of the 20th century and continuing even today to surprise with his tireless experimentation looking for a kind of philosophy of life in which the artist aims to have a social role : show the beauty of the world to encourage men to protect it.
The exhibition path 2015-1958 face the history backwards to allow us to compare different eras and allow us to look to younger works with eyes more aware, providing more depth of the gaze in a" contemporary" sense , raising the role of the artist and his return to painting, but without compromising the Visual shock made using pure pigments: "being modern means first of all see ourselves more clearly," says Martial Raysse. The meaning of "contemporary"thus acquires a new importance: it not coincides perfectly with the time nor it will try to adapt to it, but there is a gap that allows the artist to perceive and understand his time better than the other.
Martial Raysse compare himself with the "great" art history getting away from it, flows through the humor and the reproduction of the works of the Renaissance masters, combining the aesthetics of Monoprix to banality of everyday things, through mythological themes he criticize the unbridled consumes and politic.
