The PISANI MORETTA – history and collectibles

Add to bookmark Add to favourities

Until October 19, 2015 by Ca' RezzonicoMuseo del Settecento Veneziano, houses a remarkable exhibition that traces the history of one of the oldest noble Venetian families: the “Pisani di San Polo”, aka Moretta.

The Pisani family name immediately evokes glitz and wealth, and history shows their enormous contribution to the cause of Venice, considering the high number of men who held prestigious positions within the Serenissima Republic.

Lovers of beauty and with a keen artistic sense, family and heirs, for over more than a century, they wanted to tie to Venice some extraordinary works of art in their collection with masterpieces by Veronese, Palladio,Tiepolo, Canova, Piazzetta and many others.

Thanks to the fact that much of the artistic patrimony was donated to the fondazione Musei Civici veneziani and with the participation of numerous private collectors, it was possible to gather 100 works documenting one of the most important experiences as collectors into the Venetian ambit.

In addition to outstanding works, such as "death of Dario" Piazzetta "Daedalus and Icarus" and "winged Cupid" by Canova, paintings, sculptures and furniture, will be exposed even everyday objects documenting the everyday life of one of the most prominent families of eighteenth-century Venice included also Murano glass, silverware, porcelain and Majolica plates and laces.
