La Bella by Titian at Palazzo Grimani
Painted in 1536 and commissioned by the ducal families of Pesaro and Urbino, the painting portrays a young lady sumptuously dressed and filled with jewelry; and thanks to the reproduction of different materials the artist had the possibility to vary the brush stroke, sometimes very rough, other times very smooth, in order to create the most diverse light refracting effects.
The Grimani Palace exhibition accompanies the La Bella painting with the presentation of illustrating materials of the restoration and of the research materials manufactured on the occasion of the restoration activities accomplished by Opificio delle Pietre Dure di Firenze, minded by Patrizia Reiitano, directed by Marco Ciatti after a wide scientific research campaign.
