Le Stanze del Vetro - Santillana

 Continues the cultural project of Fondazione Giorgio Cini and Pentagram Stiftung entitled "Le Stanze del Vetro", created to raise awareness of the 20th century glass art and to promote contemporary glass artists. The current exibithion allows us to know Laura De Santillana and Alexander Diaz De Santillana, two brothers descended from a mythical glassmaking dynasty, with the likes of father Lodovico Diaz De Santillana and the grandfather, Paolo Venini.

The exhibition features approximately 170 works, many made from 80 's to today, and some new works specially designed for the exhibition in Venice. This is not a four hands work but, rather, of a survey on language, different but intertwined, two artists, one focused on transparency and the color and the other one voted on flat and reflecting surfaces where the colour disappears. The rooms are set up to expose the works sometimes separately, sometimes putting the brothers versus each other with the goal of creating an ongoing dialogue between the two artists with a game of correspondences and points of contention, showing the autonomous artistic path but also the bond of a memory and a family history. There are educational activities, and free guided tours available.
