350The third edition of the Venetian international literature festival “Incroci di Civiltà” has a mission: to blow up the border between Here and There, and take gigantic figures of the contemporary literary scene to Venice in order to engage in a personal dialogue with literature, to which writers contribute with fragments of their private worlds, that somehow explode and become universal.

India, Indonesia, Iran, Greece, Israel, Japan: names that enter our homes through television’s dry chronicles and the sensationalism of newspapers. “Incroci” lets the world of literature speak of its own revolutions and open up new individual perspectives on politics, history and nations.

Framed by the Malibran Theatre, the Auditorium Santa Margherita, the Querini Stampalia Foundation, the Palazzo Ducale and the Ateneo Veneto, thirty writers present their most recent publications, interviewed by Ca’ Foscari Professors, translators and famous journalists, within a festival that grows in prestige and beauty.

Among the nations in the program: India, with Nobel Prize V.S. Naipaul, Vikram Seth and Kiran Nagarkar, Theo Angelopoulos’ and Petros Markaris’ Greece, Eastern Europe and the new Italy of migrant literature, deserving the warmest welcome. Two Italian migrant authors will be present at the festival: young Igiaba Scego (La Mia Casa è Dove Sono - My Home is where I Am) and Pap Khouma (Nonno Dio e gli Spiriti Danzanti Grandpa God and the Dancing Spirits), who believes that the possibility of a “Black Italianess” is still far away.
