Flemish and Dutch Drawings at the Ca' D'Oro Palace

The Ca’ d'Oro, an ancient patrician residence of the fifteenth-century, gathers the art collection which Baron Giorgio Franchetti, who bought the building in 1894, gave to the State.
In this house, decorated with a Venetian Gothic style, through fascinating architectonical glimpses,
it is possible to admire paintings of the Venetian school among which the famous San Sebastiano by Andrea Mantegna, works of the Tuscan and the Flemish school, wonderful bronze statues and Renaissance statues as well.

Until June 20th 2010 the collection will be enriched with 24 drawings on the same field, coming from the Cabinet of Prints and Drawings of the Accademia Galleries.
The exhibition, titled ‘Flemish and Dutch Drawings’, will include a numerically limited but prestigious group of drawings from the sixteenth to the seventeenth century, some of which of high quality and which have never been showed to the public, made by such masters as Jan Gossaert or Rembrandt. The exhibition will offer the opportunity of displaying, temporarily, also seven small paintings of the museum with sketches of Dutch genre of the seventeenth century, held in warehouses awaiting for a complete rearrangement of the exhibiting rooms of the palace.
