Biennale D’arte 2024 Stranieri Ovunque – Foreigners Everywhere

From Saturday 20 April to Sunday 24 November 2024 (pre-opening 17,18,19 April) the sixtieth edition of the Venice Biennale, International Art Exhibition, curated by Adriano Pedrosa, will take place.

The 60th International Art Exhibition will be entitled Stranieri Ovunque – Foreigners Everywhere. The title is taken from a series of works created since 2004 by the Claire Fontaine collective.

Adriano Pedrosa explains his choice:

«The backdrop for the work is a world rife with multiple crises concerning the movement and existence of people across countries, nations, territories and borders, which reflect the perils and pitfalls of language, translation and ethnicity, expressing differences and disparities conditioned by identity, nationality, race, gender, sexuality, wealth, and freedom. In this landscape, the phrase Foreigners Everywhere has (at least) a dual meaning. First of all, that wherever you go and wherever you are you will always encounter foreigners—they/we are everywhere. Secondly, that no matter where you find yourself, you are always, truly, and deep down inside, a foreigner».

The 60th International Art Exhibition will present, as usual, the National Participations with their own exhibitions in the Pavilions at the Giardini and at the Arsenale, as well as in the historic centre of Venice.

There are also 30 projects selected as Collateral Event by the Curator of the 60th International Art Exhibition Adriano Pedrosa. The Collateral Events, promoted by national and international non-profit organizations and institutions, are organized in numerous locations in the city of Venice. They offer a wide range of contributions and participations that enrich the International Exhibitions of the Venice Biennale.
