Luigi Cherubini (1760-1842) and the Early Romantics

Add to bookmark Add to favourities

His personality can indeed be considered one of the most eloquent,
musically speaking, in Romantic France. This talent is the reason why he
was so much appreciated by the queen Marie Antoinette and the king
Louis Philippe. Cherubini introduces himself as a representative of the
academism, given his membership to the Institut and the fact he was the
director of the Paris Conservatory. This did not prevent him to be
extremely innovative in his work, as he massively renewed his time’s
music.

The autumn festival dedicated to this composer presents a selection of
famous and inedited works, together with works by other artists of his
time as Méhul, Kreutzer, Jadin, Onslow, Hérold.
