8th International Festival of contemporary dance "Awakenings"

The eighth edition of the International Festival of Contemporary Dance – Awakenings – it will take place from Friday,8 to Sunday, 24 June 2012 at the most important pavilions of exhibition during the Venice Biennale.

The Festival Director, Ismael Ivo, is interpreting this event - titled "Awakenings" - as a celebration to the awakening of creative life. Quoting his words, he says: "The movement is life. The heart gives the rhythm and the body moves a step. These are the dynamics of survival and existence ".

This edition will be very special, because during this event we will be able to see special shows, performances, installations (including 5 world premieres and another 5 new in Italy), conferences, workshops and master classes with some of the protagonists of the contemporary scene.

In addition we can also assist at 20 short unpublished performances of many other companies selected by invitation and presented in the Marathon of the Unexpected, a special space inside the Festival dedicated to unpublished works.
