From 22 March 2020 to 10 January 2021 Palazzo Grassi will host the exhibition Henri Cartier-bresson: Le Grand jeu”, realized with the bibliothèque nationale de France and in collaboration with the Fondation Henri Cartier-bresson.

Designed and coordinated by Matthieu Humery, the exhibition aims to compare the look of five curators on the work of Cartier-Bresson (1908– 2004), and in particular on the “Master Collection” with a selection of 385 images that the artist identified in the early 1970s, at the invitation of his collector friends Jean and Dominique de Menil, as the most significant of his work. The exceptional curators are the photographer Annie Leibovitz, the director and photographer Wim Wenders, the Spanish writer Javier Cercas, the conservative and director of the Department of Prints and Photography of the bibliothèque nationale de France Sylvie Aubenas and the famous French collector Francois Pinault. Through their selection, each of them has chosen 50 images, sharing their own personal vision of photography, and of the work of this great artist.
