Carnival - The Venetian feast on water
The Feast, that announces the Carnival's arrival in the city one week before the traditional opening with the Angel's Flight (Volo dell'Angelo) in Piazza San Marco, starts on Saturday with a great evening show on water and a mask procession, and reaches its peak on Sunday, with a water procession of typical vessels, led with the traditional technique 'voga alla veneta', that will start from Punta della Dogana to sail along the whole Grand Canal until Rio di Cannaregio.
At the arrival of the boats, expected by a jubilating public on the shores, the eno-gastronomical stands will offer ciccheti, Venetian specialities, frittole and galani, the carnival tradition typical sweets in the lagoon.
