SPLENDORS OF THE RENAISSANCE

Until 10 April at the Correr Museum you will see the first exhibition dedicated to one of the protagonists of the Venetian Mannerism: Andrea Meldola said Schiavone (c. 1510 – 1563) was an original and brilliant artist, admired by, among others, Tintoretto, Carracci and by El Greco.

The exhibition counts 140 works including paintings, drawings and prints, plus a rich core of books and historical documents from around the world and 80 master's works – paintings, drawings, engravings – together for the first time in an exhibition that highlights the unprejudiced  and disruptive of an enigmatic artist: his pictorial language sparked a heated debate since its arrival in Venice (circa 1535) among those who estimated and admired and who as the Pino did not hide his contempt.

Among the paintings presented, over some unreleased by Schiavone, will be seen important works by comparing the major Renaissance artists as Parmigianino – the great "San Zaccaria" Madonna degli Uffizi – youth raids mate, Jacopo Tintoretto, Titian – with the "Aldobrandini Madonna" by the National Gallery in London – and even Vasari, Bassano, Veronese, Polidoro da Lanciano, Lambert Sustris.
