Slip of the Tongue

The figure of "curator" carries out, in Roman times, a so-called "reparation" role, coherent with a culture that tends to restore rather than rebuild from scratch.
And it is precisely this function that describes the duties and responsibilities of Danh Vo in the role not only as an artist but also of "curator" he who cares about the artworks once made.

The heart of the exhibition consists of works that originate from two Venetian institutions: the Gallerie dell'Accademia and the Institute of art history of the Giorgio Cini Foundation, which owns the collection of miniatures composed mostly from Swiss collector and merchant Ulrico Hoepli (1847-1935) – which opens in Milan in 1870 the homonymous Publishing House – and bought in 1940 by count Vittorio Cini, who will make a gift to the Foundation.

The title of the exhibition "Slip of the Tongue" ("lapsus") is inspired by that of a work by the artist Nairy Baghramian. This is about some glass objects from the collection of decorative arts of the Art Institute of Chicago. The artist asked to dispose of it  temporarily, "placing them as objects that evoke the lack of verticality they suffered. The sculptures need a wall, a window, otherwise it will not stand, "he says. "I give them a moment's rest".
The heart of the exhibition consists of works by the artist Nancy Spero (1926-2010) Codex Artaud (1971-1972) and Cri du Coeur (2004) expressing the pain for the condolence addressed to the anonymous victims of war and environmental disasters.
