Venice and its door on the mainland: the "Sestiere di Santa Croce"
Discover Cannaregio District
The Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia are opening the celebrations of the centennial of futurism, that will have its climax in the great exhibition at the Correr in June 2009, with an exhibition at the Correr museum dedicated to Fortunato Depero (1892-1960).
The exhibition, made possible thanks to the generosity of the Fedrizzi family, includes over eighty works created between 1914 and 1956 – oils, temperas, ink and charcoal drawings, collages, advertising sketches, intarsia in wood and coloured fabrics, furnishing projects – with famous masterpieces such as the Bolted Book (1927) or Nitrito in Velocità [Speeding Nitrite] (1922), and unpublished works that document Depero’s multimedia approach, in a completely absorbing vision of artistic expression and in a context of global opening to all kinds of experiences, within and beyond futurism.
