Venice Jazz Festival 2011
Venice Jazz Festival, on from July 23 to 31, is one of the most remarkable festivals of the Italian scene, combining a unique musical programming to the charm of Venice.
The event, organized by Veneto Jazz in collaboration with the Veneto Region and the City of Venice, doesn’t consist just of music: it’s a real program of art, literature, photography, that involves the audience at any hour of the day.
The program includes a series of prestigious concerts in Piazza San Marco and La Fenice Theatre, and some special events held in the major museums of the city (Palazzo Grassi and Punta della Dogana, Peggy Guggenheim Collection).
The most important event will take place on July 29: Sting & the Symphony Orchestra will perform in Venice in the unique setting of Piazza San Marco.
The others events has as protagonist Cesaria Evora, hosted on July 26 at the Teatro La Fenice, followed by the July 27 concert by percussionist Trilok Gurtu and the Cuban pianist Omar Sosa Quintet.
This year, on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of Miles Davis, the festival signed the most important shows ever made about the artist: a multimedia event that encompasses the entire discography of this icon.
