The exhibition “Oriental Watertown” opened on the 4th November and it will be on till the 28th November on the island of San Servolo. This exhibition has been organized to celebrate the thirtieth anniversary of the twinning between the cities of Venice and Suzhou (China).

The twinning is the result of a partnership between the two cities to favor the friendship between their citizens, and it has resulted on the cooperation of the two nations in the fields of culture, art, technology, science and much more. It is to honor this “artistic” friendship between the two populations that Comune di Venezia, together with Provincia di Venezia, Comitato Shanghai Venezia Wold Expo 2010, San Servolo Servizi and Fondazione di Venezia, has organized the exhibition, that counts 55 photographs by the most important photographers in new China.

These photographs represent everyday life and Chinese landscape. They are then a way to describe a country that wants to show the world all its faces, from the most to the less known. The exhibition has been opened by Fulvio Roiter.
