Glasstress 2011
Glasstress 2011 is an important contemporary art exhibition in which international artists and designers confront each other with the use of glass through a selection of sculptures, installations and objects.
The exhibition, a Collateral Event of the 54th Biennale International Art Exhibition, is hold at Palazzo Cavalli Franchetti (Istituto Veneto of Sciences, Arts and Letters) and includes a special project of Mike + Doug Starn.
Promoted by MAD (The Museum of Arts and Design) in New York, designed by Adrian Berengo and produced by Venice Projects, Glasstress 2011 will be curated by Lidewij Edelkoort, Peter Noever, Demetrius Paparoni and Bonnie Clearwater.
This year's theme is the complex relationship between art, design and architecture. By comparing the opinion of several editors, Glasstress addresses this issue through specially made glass sculptures, whose research is influenced by the formal aspect of the use of the object.
During the exhibition will also open a few workshops, organized meetings with artists and workshops for children in order to spread the culture of glass as a material to be favored.
Glasstress 2011 will be open to the public until November 27, 2011.
