Ermanno Nason, Guerriero del Vetro

Ermanno Nason, Guerriero del Vetro
The exhibition dedicated to Ermanno Nason (Murano, 1928), one of the most important maestri in glass making in Murano, opened to the public on the 18th September 2010, and will stay open till the 11th January 2011. The Venetian artist belongs to one of the most significant families in the history on Murano glass, a family that started working glass in the XVII Century.

Nason has been collaborating with important artists like Pablo Picasso, Jean Cocteau, Marc Chagall, Max Ernst, Kokoshka, Jean Le Witt, Fred Fay, Krayer, Antun Motika e Bergamini, Guttuso, Braque, Verde, Hundertwasser, Fontana, Pignon, Bellini, Minguzzi, Goldoni, Carraro, Fulvio Bianconi, giving shape even to the most innovative project, with an extreme interest on the abstract and informal side of art, and he became famous mostly for his “a massello” production, created by shaping glass as an incandescent mass.

A hundred works are exposed at the Glass Museum in Murano. They go from the reproduction of the famous Cellini salt-cellar to a pop version of the head of the Statue of Liberty, from the splendid faces of the crystal women to the Tiepolo-style Pulcinella. Exhibition and Skira catalogue curated by Aldo Bova, with texts by Aldo Bova, Silvio Fuso, Chiara Squarcina, Giampaolo Seguso and several interviews by Francesca Cadel. Exhibition project and setting by Eraldo Mauro.
