For the 5th time Fiber Art comes back in Venice with an exhibition from June 19th to August 29th at Palazzo Mocenigo. There will be exhibited the 54 mini textile artworks and the big installations of Takushi Aono, Shihoko Fukumoto, Sumiko Tasaka, Kyoko Tsujita, Makiko Wakisaka and Elisa Nicolaci. Fiber art is a style of fine art which uses textiles such as fabric, yarn, and natural and synthetic fibers.

unknown drawings by architect Carlo Scarpa, an important document of his
work.
Fondazione Emilio e Annabianca Vedova presents from June 5th to
September 19th a surprising and original exhibition dedicated to the
unknown works of the sculptor of French origin, but of American
nationality, Louise Bourgeois.
The 7th International Festival of Contemporary Dance, Capturing
Emotions, will be held from 26 May to 12 June in Venice. The ingredients
of the festival are: 36 performances, 5 world premieres, 7 European and
8 Italian premieres, 20 choreographers, 16 companies, an “off”
section dedicated to innovative works, a choreography workshop
and meetings with protagonists of international dance.

Until July 25th you can admire one hundred years of Russian art, from the empire to the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics and to the new Federation. Russie tries to show, for the first time in Italy, the whole 20th century through the artists’ eyes, their works and a more general visual culture that has been an impressive propaganda tool.
More than one hundred and thirty works (oils, temperas, drawings in
pencil, sketches and preparatory studies, large canvases and small
paintings) of the Bosnian artist Safet Zec will be displayed at Correr
Museum until July 18th. Some of the works presented have never been on
public display before.
The evolution of utopian ideas is the theme of the exhibition presented
at Peggy Guggenheim Collection from May 1 through July 25. Curated by
Vivien Green, Curator of 19th- and Early 20th-Century Art at the Solomon
R. Guggenheim Museum, New York, Utopia Matters: from Brotherhoods to
Bauhaus, is organized together with Deutsche Guggenheim Berlin
From April 7th to July 26th the Museum Café of the Peggy Guggenhaim Collection Museum will be covered with twelve large-format photographs of the American collector in her home, Palazzo Venier dei Leoni, realized in 1958 by the Italian photographer Nino Migliori.
As tradition, also this year there will be the “Su e Zo per i Ponti”,
a non competitive walk for everybody scheduled for Sunday 18th April. A
prelude of the event is organized the night before the walk.
Silk and Velvet, from March 27th to July 18th at the first floor of Palazzo Fortuny, is an homage to the art and creativity of the eclectic and multifaceted artist Mariano Fortuny and to his famous Delphos.
From March 27th to July 18th the second floor of Palazzo Fortuny will host an exhibition dedicated to the war-garments of the Samurai, the powerful military caste that ruled Japan for seven centuries, leaving the emperor with a kind of priestly role as sovereign.
The unique collection of Venetian Oselle will be exposed from March 7th
to April 5th in the Biblioteca Nazionale Marciana, where the "Zecca di
stato" (mint) was hosted during Serenissima Republic.
Galanterie di vetro, from March 16th to May 2nd in Palazzo Loredan, is dedicated to the vast De Boss-Smith collection, never previously exhibited, composed of nineteenth century Murano glass from filigree to millefiore, from avventurine to chalcedony.
Rediscovering museum is a series of exhibition dedicated to unknown collections of the Glass Museum which aims to rediscover and increase the value of this heritage. After the exhibition dedicated to the difficult period of the early Nineteenth century, this one will focus on the revival of the second half of the century.
The exhibition “The Teatro del Mondo as a «singular building». A tribute to Aldo Rossi” is open from February 10th to July 31st at Ca' Giustinian, renovated headquarters of the Venice Biennale. Aldo Rossi's Teatro del Mondo was a floating theatre built 30 years ago and moored at the Punta della Dogana.
The first solo exhibition in Italy dedicated to the american artist Jim Hodges,
from February 4th until April 5, at Bevilacqua La Masa Foundation.
Suspension, lightness, detachment. The exhibition Suspence tries to represent the detachment from real world through lightness, simulating the absence of gravity. From 2nd to 15th February at Palazzetto Tito.

Ca 'Pesaro, which is known to be always attentive to Venetian cultural production, will host from 8th December 2009 to 17 January 2010 a collective of artists belonging to the Association Artists SPA + A (Society for Artists + Friends), created to promote the activity of artists who live and work in Venice.
The 8th december in the basilica of Santi Giovanni e Paolo, one of the most
imposing religious buildings of Venice, will take place the Great Concert for the Immaculate Conception feast, with the Cantores of the Chapel of the Basilica of St. Mark.
From December 19th 2009 to April 11th 2010 at Correr Museum you can discover the wonderful collection of nineteenth century drawings - most of which are on display for the very first time – of Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia. The collection is one of the biggest on the graphic scene of that century and includes works by Caffi, Pividor, Guardi, Moro, Bosa, Vervloet ecc.

The 66th Venice International Film Festival, directed by Marco Müller, will take place from 2 to 12 September 2009 in Venice Lido. A not to be missed event with great cinema.
The exhibition is part of the initiatives promoted for the celebrations marking the five hundredth anniversary of Palladio’s birth. Organized in collaboration with the Biblioteca Nazionale Marciana, it goes back over Palladio’s steps in Venice through over 300 works – printed publications, manuscripts, documents and drawings – that are testimony of Palladio’s Venetian surroundings and his work in the city.

Ten years after the establishment of the Dance section within the Venice Biennale, a need has been felt to take stock in order to start anew and reflect on the future of dance. The result is an ample and ambitious project summarized in the title Degree Zero. The project will take place over the three-year period 2009, 2010, and 2011 under the direction of Ismael Ivo.
The Week-End at the Museum restarts, a proposal by the Venetian Civic Museum Association, various workshops and itineraries through the halls of the Venetian Museums and more.

Barbier. Artist, fashion illustrator and theatre designer is one of the most important exponent of the Art deco movement.
